Adverbs
Adverbs are words that describe everything except nouns. Those that describe nouns are called adjectives. But, basically these are ‘describing words’. They answer specific questions like:
-
-
- HOW MUCH (Technically called Adverbs of Degree)
- HOW OFTEN (Technically called Adverbs of Frequency)
- WHERE (Technically called Adverbs of Place)
- HOW (Technically called Adverbs of Manner)
- WHEN (Technically called Adverbs of Time)
In terms of their position in the sentences, we can divide them into 3 kinds:
-
-
-
- Before the words they describe — HOW MUCH, and HOW OFTEN
- After the words they describe — WHERE
- At the end of the sentence — HOW and WHEN
Let’s look at them individually.
