This involves checking their active and passive knowledge of English. We also check their learning objectives. This helps us to tailor our program to meet those aims.
We use the Lowest Common Denominator system to design the programme. What this means is, the programme is designed bearing in mind the needs of the weakest student in the batch.
The writing skill develops on its own – that is the result of developed speaking skills. For specific writing skills, like business/professional email writing, or report writing, &c, we have specialised modules.
The learners speak with one another to cement the English language elements. They lose their inhibitions and start speaking in English from the very first day.
We discourage people from becoming a personified Google Translate. They learn to think in English and speak the language. We follow the inherent principle of communication – draw the picture and describe it.
The students learn English by actually speaking. They discover the language on their own. We encourage them to speak in English – whatever they wish to speak about. Then we guide them to say it properly. They speak on topics close to their lives. This removes their hesitation and generates confidence.
This is the Principle of Communication. This is the way we all speak our mother tongues. But we aren’t aware of this phenomenon. At TELW, we help the students recognise this and apply it to their communication process.
The learners aren’t made to feel like they are in school. They learn English in the same manner as they learnt their mother tongues. You learnt your mother tongue in around 3 – 5 years to speak a passably well. We simply speed up the process.
